The open source sales CRM software project X2CRM has reached another major milestone in its history with the company’s latest announcement of the availability of version 5.0 of its open source CRM software, which includes marketing automation, sales force automation, process workflow management, and service case management features.
This release, like all X2CRM versions, is available as an open source CRM application as well as in two commercial versions available in both cloud and download editions.

X2CRM 5.0 has been designed to make an entrance. From the first sight of the login screen, the new theme capabilities make an impression. New profile theme tools make it more intuitive than ever to revamp the look of the X2CRM, says the company. They add that the new tools “help mold the software to match any company’s branding identity.” The new system comes pre-built with several new themes, including the dynamical dark “Termninal” theme.
Integrated Email Client
A fully integrated Email Client awaits users of 5.0, doing away with the necessity of switching back and forth between email and CRM interfaces. This feature will be an expansion upon the one-way email correspondence previously available, offering shared outboxes and inboxes – particularly useful for shared email accounts like support or newsletter addresses, says the company. Users of the sales software can automatically associate emails with existing records, or manually associate them with a click. This new integrated email client will supersede the email dropbox functionality of previous X2CRM versions, though both will still be available.
Reporting in X2CRM has been revamped for this release. New report styles, including the popular Rows & Columns report and new Summation reporting will allow in-depth analytics, giving users the tools to investigate customer demographics. User can implement Drill-Down columns to get a closer look at customer subsets. Users may also generate insightful reports and save them for periodic updates. Each report type can be generated into a stunning chart, says X2CRM. The completely redone charting features now boast impressive data visualization and includes a custom charting dashboard, where users can save their most insightful charts. Reports can be printed for presentation, or exported to a .CSV.
X2CRM say many users tell them that adopting a new sales software CRM can be a challenge. When beginning to use a new framework, many users want to have their own data in the system when they get started, says the company. Users want to start implementing the system and seeing results relevant to their own customer databases. The update to version 5.0 includes an overhauled, intelligent record importer with automatic field detection. This includes new pre-built field map for migrating data exported from other CRM systems. Users just need to select their previous CRM and all the fields of the .csv file exported from that system will be pre-mapped to corresponding X2CRMe fields.
Industry Solutions – X2Packager
The ability to customize X2CRM has been one of the most powerful traits of their CRM, says the company. They go on to say that the ability to extend and adapt the system to any industry vertical is a now even more powerful with X2Packager. Users can now design their own custom environment and package them up for deployment. Alternatively, they can choose from a number of standard X2CRM packages, pre-designed and tailored to a number of industry verticals.
Advanced Security Tools
Administrators already have complete control over their users’ level of record access, permissions to edit or update data, and group memberships. In v5.0, X2CRM introduces advanced security tools give them even more control over data protection, allowing users to ban or whitelist IP addresses from accessing the system.
Relationship Graphing – X2Graph
Analytics of CRM data has never been done like this before, claims X2CRM. The new interactive relationship graph provides the insight and understanding that only a visual graph can provide. Users may sort and select relationships to single out and display, filter based on relationship types, or create new relationships from within the graph.
Module Deep Rename
The ability to rename modules has always existed in X2CRM, but thus far, the ability has remained superficial. However, with v5.0 the company are introducing deep renaming of modules, with all references to the module being fully replaced with the custom name, including in actionable events, dropdown menus, and relationships.
Faster record updating means a faster sales force, says X2CRM. The company adds that giving users the power to edit records on the fly will streamline sale forces and make them more efficient. This new ability allows users to quickly edit record data without having to open the full editor.
